Once again, prayers are needed for a great friend of many, the one I asked for yesterday.
Little Caroline: Today Caroline is having a bone scan, bone marrow samples taken for testing and a port inserted for chemotherapy. Prayers appreciated!

Update on little Caroline:
From my friend, the granddad:
I just this moment returned from the hospital and the Dr. gave us some good news for a change. The bone scan results were good and her lungs are clear. This afternoon they are taking bone marrow to test and inserting a "port" for chemo therapy which will likely begin on Tuseday or Wednesday as soon as they get the pathology results. Depending on how much pain she is in they may allowe her to go home Saturday or Sunday for a couple of days to be readmitted on Tuesday.
What she is having done this afternoon is going to be painful. She will have lost all her hair in the next 3 weeks. Thinking of shaving my head to match!
(I asked him if he still had a hair....he said a full head of hair!)
The news is better than hoped initially, but Caroline still has a road to go.

Re: Little Caroline Caroline's website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/carolineoneil has had over 400 hits already and many nice messages left at the guestbook even from someone who had a child who has survived the same cancer. The only think my friend doesn't like about the website is they are not subtle about seeking donations for the site. He will make a donation to them and ask that nobody else does. He said, The outpouring of caring people is amazing and makes you realize despite the bums we are exposed to each day in regard to this stock most of the folks in this world are good honest hardworking caring folks. Thank you for the continued prayers.

Please say a special prayer for Tramp's Mom... things not looking too well right now. She has had congestive heart failure and an enlarged heart. She went into the emergency room earlier this morning. Family members of Tramp's are on their way in case this is their "last goodbye". Special prayer that they all arrive in time and may her time on earth be one surrounded by loved ones. Thank you all, this hits home when it's one of our own hurting. Tramp said his mom is at this hospital: (10:48 AM) diamondsandgold_4: www.davenportandtaylor.org/

Tramp, our sincere condolences to you and your family. I'm sure your Mom would be saying these things to you all....
Message From Heaven -
A Letter From Heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say, Though first of all to let you know I arrived OK. I'm writing this from heaven, here I dwell with Spirit above, Here there's no more tears of sadness, here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy because I am out of sight, Remember I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, Heavens warmth covered me and said "I welcome you". "It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone, As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on. We need you here so badly, you're part of our great plan, There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
Spirit gave me a list of things that were wished for me to do, And foremost on that list - was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in your bed at night the day's chores put to flight, Spirit and I are closest to you...in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years, Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry a while; it helps relieve the pain. Remember there would no flowers unless there was some rain. I wish I could explain to you all that Spirit has planned. If I were to tell you, you would not understand. One thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over, I'm closer to you now than I ever was before. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb, But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and in pain, Then you can say to me at night.."My day was not in vain". So now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile, Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet someone who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go from that body to be free, Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
Our love and support Tramp

Tramp, You are Truely not the definition of your Nickname... You are loved by sooooo many.... We are all sad with you now today on the loss of your mother, but when I say loss, it is only the loss on earth. I believe she will always be with you as you go through life. Her wants and wishes will always be for you to be well and happy, all the days of your life. I know this, because being a mother has taught me so many things. I hope that when I pass, that my sons too, will be happy and blessed and enjoy life being respectful always, caring as you do for others...... We know our journey on earth is important, and the next one is even greater. I wish you well my friend... . I couldn't copy and paste this poem..... so here is a link.... Never Unsaid © Valerie Capasso I never want this to go unsaid, So here in this poem, is for it to be said. There are no words to express how much you mean to me, A son like you, I thought could never be. Because the day you were born, I just knew, God sent me a blessing- and that was you. For this I thank Him everyday, You are the true definition of a son, in everyway. It is because of you that my life has meaning, Becoming a mom has shown me a new sense of being. I want you to know that you were the purpose of my life, Out of everything I did- it was you that I did right. Always remember that I know how much you care, I can tell by the relationship that we share. Hi Everyone, Please pray for my friend and mentor, Dr. Martin. He is a cmkx shareholder that runs a non-profit expressive arts academy in Denver, CO. He just had surgery for tongue and mouth cancer. He is an amazing, giving, compassionate, brilliant man who has spent the majority of his life giving to others. He is the cornerstone of Academy and if he is not there they will lose students and the Academy would not be able to meet it's bills. That would mean he could not meet his. He has no health insurance as he had kidney cancer surgery around 7 years ago and insurance costs with having had cancer are out of his reach. This truly is a God sized problem. GOD IS LARGE AND IN CHARGE. Please pray for speedy recovery and that God will sustain the Academy. Dream/Jen

Gas Leak Kills 3 At Port Everglades BSO: Argon Gas Leaking From Shipping Container Blamed For Deaths PORT EVERGLADES (CBS4) ¯ Three employees of a company which unloads ships at Port Everglades were killed early Tuesday morning when they were apparently overcome by gas leaking from a tank aboard the cargo ship Madeline. Two of the workers apparently died when they tried to help a third worker after they saw that co-worker collapse. Broward Sheriff's Office spokesman Keyla Concepcion said three people were overcome by what is believed to be Argon gas while working on the ship docked at the port's Berth 30. When paramedics arrived just before 3:30 Tuesday morning, they said the workers were 'unresponsive'. Paramedics were unable to revive them, and they were later pronounced dead. Concepcion said the three dead workers were employed by Florida Transportation Services, which provides services to ships at Port Everglades. She told CBS4's Marybel Rodriguez that workers saw one co-worker go in to an area of the ship's interior and collapse. A second worker approached the fallen worker in an attempt to help him, and also collapsed. Yet another worker attempted to go to their aid, and was also felled. "It was a very unfortunate and tragic incident," said Concepcion. "It appears one co-worker just trying to help another co-worker and it just resulted in tragedy." Paramedics and HAZMAT workers were called, and other workers were kept away from the area. BSO said a tank of Argon gas was found to be leaking in the area, so the Madeline's captain used a crane to snag the tank and carry it on deck, where the gas could safely dissipate. Paramedics found all three crew members apparently suffocated Argon is colorless, odorless, tasteless and nontoxic in both its liquid and gaseous forms, which is often used for refrigeration and welding. It is not poisonous, but if breathed in concentration it can interfere with the body's ability to use oxygen, causing suffocation. The names of the three victims were not immediately available. (© MMVIII, CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved.) © MMVIII, CBS Television Stations Inc. All Rights Reserved. cbs4.com/local/hazmat.gas.leak.2.728091.html************************************* Leaking Gas Kills 3 At Port Everglades POSTED: 6:17 am EDT May 20, 2008 UPDATED: 8:54 am EDT May 20, 2008 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Three people are dead after a refrigerated gas leaked from a shipping container in Port Everglades, authorities said. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, the three victims were workers who were loading the containers onto the cargo ship Madeleine. They were found unresponsive after emergency workers received a call about the leaking gas around 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday. Port officials said the Madeleine arrived from Ecuador early Tuesday morning. The victims worked for Florida Transportation Services, a company whose workers are hired to load equipment on and off the ships. The suspect gas is argon, which is colorless, odorless and not harmful if out in the open. However, the container on the ship was in a closed space. A crane was used to remove the shipping container from the ship and move it to a secured area of the port. www.local10.com/news/16336282/detail.html*********************** 3 victims of deadly Port Everglades gas leak identified May 20, 2008 FORT LAUDERDALE - The three men who died early this morning when they were overcome by gas while trying to offload a cargo ship at Port Everglades were trying to help each other, a co-worker said. "They were good guys. That was their problem," said Tarson Bodden, 36, of Miami, shaking his head. The Broward Sheriff's Office said the three Florida Transportation Services employees were found in the hull of the Madeleine after emergency workers received a call at 3:22 a.m. about leaking argon gas. The victims were identified as supervisor Hayman Sooknanan, 47, of Oakland Park; James Cason, 43, of Fort Lauderdale; and Rene Robert Dutertre Jr., 25, of Wilton Manors. "We determined there was a leak in an argon gas container," said sheriff's spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion. "It's considered to be non-toxic but does cause asphyxia in a contained space." The 331-foot Antigua-registered ship is located at Dock 31, in a secure area of the port. It travels regularly to and from Ecuador, Concepcion said. Concepcion said a container of argon was loaded onto the ship Monday night, but a dock captain told Sooknanan to remove it when some of the crew complained about light-headedness. Sooknanan went to investigate the leak and was seen by a crewman passed out on the floor. The captain evacuated the ship, but the two other workers decided to go in and try and help the supervisor. Each wrapped a shirt around his head to keep from inhaling the gas, but it was no use, Concepcion said. Cason went in first, followed by Dutertre, she said. Bodden said he tried to talk Dutertre out of going down after Dutertre caught a glimpse of the two men below. He and Dutertre had been tying to drag out containers and racks so they could pull out the leaking gas unit. "I told him don't go down -- you won't come back up," Bodden said. Dutertre said nothing and went down. Bodden said he saw him again moments later down in the hold. Dutertre was struggling to make his way back up. He suddenly stopped and fell back 20 feet to the floor, said Bodden. "They were trying to help each other," Bodden said, gripping his hardhat. "They lost their lives trying to help one another. It's terrible." Sooknanan had been working for more than a dozen years with the company, Bodden said, but the two other victims had been employed for less than a year. A large, white cylinder believed to be the source of the leak was lifted out of the ship by a crane and placed on the dock. A white smoke was seen coming out of it. The cylinder had the words "refrigerated liquid" on it. The men's bodies were taken to the medical examiner's office, which will determine the exact cause of death, Concepcion said. Argon is colorless, tasteless and odorless. Some of the things it's used for is as a gas for incandescent lighting, welding, and for extinguishing fires. Port Everglades spokeswoman Ellen Kennedy said the Madeleine arrived at 4:30 a.m. Monday and had been scheduled to leave this afternoon. "There are many safety regulations in place and officials are investigating whether they were followed," Kennedy said. The ship's cargo included construction equipment, she said. Florida Transportation Services is a shipping agent that leases the berth from the county. A receptionst at the Fort Lauderdale-based company said everyone was in a meeting and no one was available for comment. www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-520leak,0,1198170.story just heard that it was sweetredfl's nephew that was one of the victims that died...prayers for the family are appreciated

Update for little Caroline: BTW Caroline has been accepted as a patient for Proton Radiation at Mass General. The good news about this is with the radiation that was planned previously there was a good chance she would have lost sight in her right eye over the next 5 years because the tumor is so close to the optic nerve. That should not be the case with Proton Radiation.

Good Afternoon Everyone, I wanted to give an update on my friend, fellow shareholder and mentor Dr. Martin. His lymph nodes were clean...thank you Lord! The testing showed that his heart is very weak and he will most likely need a pace maker. Also they are not sure they got all the cancer from the tongue. Please pray that the further testing will show they did. Also please pray for Doc's and the Academy's financial needs. He has no health insurance and they have lost lots of income while doc has been recovering. they are hanging on by not much and Academy will need to shut its doors if they don't increase their income. Thank you ALL for the prayers. He is so touched. I hope that one day you will be able to meet tihs amazing, compassionate brilliant man. And for the other needs on this board... Dear Lord....you have promised that all things work together for good, and that you will meet our needs. You are large and in charge. Bless and heal the many who need a touch from You! Amen Dream

Update on little Caroline:
THURSDAY, JUNE 05, 2008 05:13 PM, CDT Hello all
This has been a very busy week for the whole O'Neil Family. Traveling to Boston for evaluation and preparation to start radiation. I recently got off the phone with Kathy- they are on their way home and Kevin chimed in to say that they have been in the car for about an hour and only gone 15 miles. I guess it takes about 2 1/2 hours each way , from Narragansett to Mass General Hospital. Kathy said that their new rule of thumb is to leave 3 hours before any scheduled appt. or test. CRAZY!!!!!!
They got some good news from the radiologist/oncologist who simply said we see some good shrinkage on the M.R.I. (With my sense of humor, I could take that statement and have a great time but I am holding myself back!) I think this is GREAT news!!!! Caroline has had to be under anesthesia for the past two mornings and has come out of it very well. I think from what Kathy said , they put them out for each treatment too-so it's a good thing she has done so well with the preliminary stuff.
They have a few days off while Caroline fights the count dropping period-7-10 days post "Big" chemo. But then if all is o.k. they hope to hear from Mass General early next week to start radiation treatments-(they make the appts three days in advance). They also were comforted by the fact that the only patients that are accepted into this program/proton radiation are ones that the Doc's feel will benefit from it and do well post treatment. Caroline will be followed by her Doc's at M.G. for the next five years...
I guess Caroline is doing o.k. with the ride-when I talked to Kathy she was watching High School Musical and eating cheezits. Sounds good to me-Haha!
Kathy gets to spend some fun time with Jack tomorrow as a volunteer for his " Field Day" at school. I hope they both have a great time- they sure do deserve it!!!!!
I am looking forward to the ice cream social put on by The Goddard School. It really is turning into a HUGE event and the kids are going to have a BLAST!!! I checked out that link to the "Toe Jam Puppet" website-what a treat it is going to be to have them there. If anyone needs info. please e-mail me and I will forward you the flier.
I also want to thank all of the people who attended the Realtors cocktail fundraiser. What a great night on scenic East Greenwich Waterfront. Thank You to everyone who made it happen and for all those who participated in the auction and raffle. Very Generous of you all. The outpouring of support is truly incredible.
I know people have said they just feel so helpless-(me included) but the support and prayers are the best help we can give....and with "the shrinkage"- noted on the M.R.I it sure sounds like they are working. So, that said , KEEP-EM' COMIN'. Thank you all-Peace and Love-Peg
