According to the Global Finance magazine (www.gfmag.com) rankings of the top 10 "Safest Banks in North America" (October 2010 issue), Canada is home to the top 4 safest banks in the region, led by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC is also the largest financial institution in Canada and one of North America’s leading diversified financial services companies, providing personal and commercial banking, insurance, wealth management services, corporate and investment banking and transaction processing services on a global basis.
In the United States, BNY Mellon topped the list nationally and in the top 5 regionally. However, other top US banks such as Bank of America and Citigroup are absent from the list.
